MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Office of the Ombudsman has recommended the suspension of forty-one members of the National Legislature for allegedly failing to declare their assets.
Those recommended for suspension include twenty-nine representatives and twelve senators.
Speaking at the MICAT Regular Press Briefing on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Monrovia, the Chairman of the Office of the Ombudsman, Finley Karngar, noted that the said lawmakers have knowingly violated the Code of Conduct.
Cllr. Karngar said,” The violation sends a wrong signal to the public, and they must be made to comply”.
Cllr. Finley Karngar then called on House Speaker Richard Koon and Senate Pro-temp Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence to take action on the violators to protect the law.
At the same time, Accountability Lab-Liberia has ended a day-long stakeholder engagement meeting in Sinoe County.
The meeting was intended to sensitize stakeholders in the county on how to strengthen and enforce efforts in monitoring the government’s projects in their areas.
According to our Correspondent, the move is aimed at holding the government accountable for the implementation of major projects across Liberia.
Accountability Lab-Liberia urged the participants to serve as ambassadors to monitor projects and other activities to ensure that the right thing is done.
