MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah says the Government of Liberia is committed to ensuring that past and current officials of government are held accountable, no matter who is involved.
Minister Piah said,” Unlike the past, where some auditors were attacked and murdered, auditors under the current administration are protected during the execution of their duties”.
According to the Information Minister, accountability is the bedrock of every thriving society, and it helps in building a stronger economy.
At the same time, Minister Piah has praised Liberians for gathering in their numbers and offering prayers for the nation.
Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah warned against those criticizing the holiday to be aware that without God, nothing is possible.
In another development, the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has imported about 3.5 million gallons of petroleum products into the country, with an additional seventeen thousand metric tons expected soon.
Disclosing the MICAT Regular Press Briefing on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in Monrovia, Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs Daniel Sando said,” The move is intended to settle the issue of petroleum shortage on the Liberian market.”
Minister Sando added that the LPRC’s action is also geared towards setting a price control system across the country.
According to him, the LPRC will not be involved in retail, but will provide such an opportunity to importers and distributors.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Information Minister further disclosed that the Liberian government is expected to host the Liberian Diaspora Annual Conference beginning this September in the United States of America.
