Gov. of Liberia Echoes Commitment to Justice…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has reiterated its commitment to justice, the protection of all persons within its borders, and the continued strengthening of bilateral ties with Guinea.

The government’s commitment was expressed by Liberia’s Ambassador to Guinea, Forkpa Gizzie, and Ambassador-at-Large, Sheikh Kouyate, who was at the head of a two-member high-level Liberian diplomatic delegation to Guinea.

The delegation’s visit was in response to a widely circulated video showing a Fulani woman being allegedly assaulted by members of the Liberia National Police (LNP).

The incident, reportedly linked to a legal dispute over power theft, has raised regional concern and public outrage.

Ambassadors Kouyate and Gizzie expressed Liberia’s deep regret over the incident and reaffirmed the country’s strong and enduring diplomatic ties with Guinea.

While in Conary, the envoys held a high-level meeting with Guinea Foreign Minister Dr. Morissanda Kouyate, during which they conveyed President Boakai’s concern over the situation.

The Liberian delegation informed the Guinean Government that the incident is being treated as an isolated case and confirmed that President Boakai has ordered an independent investigation to ensure accountability and transparency.

In response, Guinea Foreign Minister Dr. Kouyate expressed Guinea’s serious concern over the matter and welcomed Liberia’s swift diplomatic engagement.

The Guinean Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of accountability and requested that the result of the investigation be shared transparently and without delay.

As part of the diplomatic efforts, the foreign ministers of both countries held a conversation on July 24, 2025, during which both parties reaffirmed their commitments to maintaining the strong and longstanding bilateral relationship between Liberia and Guinea.
