Pres. Boakai Reviews Key Creativities at Liberia Petroleum Refining Company

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph has inspected key initiatives ongoing at the Liberia Petroleum Company (LPRC) in Monrovia.

The project includes the LPRC Petroleum Lab, which is nearing completion, and the construction of a huge gasoline tank.

According to the ELBC Reporter, the Liberian Leader also inspected the vessel that brought into the country a huge consignment of petroleum products.

The coming of the vessel marks Liberia’s first direct shipment of petroleum products in over forty years. During his inspection tour, President Boakai was celebrated by staff of the LPRC, with placards bearing inscriptions like:” Thank you, Mr. President, for the job well done”.

Meanwhile, LPRC Managing Director Amos Tweh has assured that the LPRC will not enter the retail market, but supply bulk products to importers.

Tweh said.” The goal is to empower Liberian businesses by consolidating the market for importers, allowing them to employ more Liberians”.

Speaking to reporters after the President’s inspection tour, the LPRC boss noted that the 2.5 million liters of gasoline will be distributed to existing importers.

He also disclosed the pending importation of an additional 3.5 million liters soon, along with 7,000 metric tons of diesel.

The LPRC Managing Director then emphasized the Liberian Government’s commitment to supporting local businesses and infrastructure development.
