MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jeremiah Koung is representing President Joseph Boakai at the UN Food Systems Summit due to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Summit from July 27 to the 29th.
The event brings together global leaders, policymakers, and development partners to assess progress and accelerate action toward transforming food systems in support of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, with particular emphasis on ending hunger and malnutrition.
According to a release, VP Koung is being accompanied to the event by the Minister of State without Portfolio, Samuel Stevequoah, Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration, Ibrahim Nyei, and Assistant Agriculture Minister for Administration, Folton Blasin.
The VP’s delegation also includes Liberia’s Special Envoy on Climate Change, Jeanine Cooper, and the Director General of the Liberia News Agency, Trokon Tarr.
While in Ethiopia, VP Koung is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the President of Ethiopia, Taye Selassie, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mohamoud Ali Youssouf, and the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa, Claver Gatete.
Meanwhile, Vice President Jeremiah Koung is expected to participate in a high-level session on July 29, organized by the African Union Commission titled:” The CAAD Kampala Declaration-Driving Africa’s Food Systems Future: NextGen Agri-Food Entrepreneurs in Dialogue with African Leaders”.
