MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti has re-emphasized the Liberian Government’s commitment to decentralizing its services to remote parts of the country.
Minister Beysolow-Nyanti said, “The government is determined to ensure that no one is left behind, regardless of geographical location.”
She disclosed plans to expand passport services to additional regions of Liberia.
She made the statement on Monday, July 21, 2025, in an interview with reporters, minutes after unveiling a decentralized passport hub in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.
The Zwedru center features state-of-the-art biometric equipment and is directly connected to the ministry’s central database in Monrovia, ensuring secure, efficient, and timely processing of passport applications.
According to Minister Nyanti, the launch reflects the government’s ongoing investment in digital transformation and the modernization of public service delivery.
Meanwhile, local leaders, traditional authorities, youth organizations, and citizens of Grand Gedeh County expressed gratitude to President Boakai and the Foreign Ministry for fulfilling a long-standing regional need for accessible identification services.
At the same time, the government of Liberia and partners have officially launched Cohort-Five Applications of the Liberia Growth Accelerated Program.
The initiative aimed at empowering Liberian businesses with technical assistance, business coaching, and financing to create jobs and drive economic growth.
Speaking at the event on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Deputy Commerce Minister for Commerce and Trade, Wilmot Reeves, recommitted the government to supporting Liberian entrepreneurs.
According to Minister Reeves, the government remains determined to support digitalization, innovation hubs, green businesses, and local content development.
He also emphasized integrating entrepreneurship into education and training systems as key to removing the structural barriers that limit SMEs’ growth.
Also speaking, UNDP-Liberia Resident Representative, Aliou Dia, is calling for concrete action to strengthen Liberia’s Private Sector, empower its entrepreneurs, and reduce poverty across communities.
Mr. Dia wants the Liberian Government, financial institutions, and development partners to come together to support micro, small, and medium enterprises, which he described as the backbone of Liberia’s economy.
According to him, every dollar invested in SMEs is a step toward a more resilient, inclusive, and self-reliant Liberia.
The UNDP-Liberia Resident Representative made the call on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, during the official applications launch of Cohort-Five of the Growth Accelerated Liberia Program.
Aliou Dia said, “The UNDP remains committed to supporting the program, providing not just financial support, but also mentorship, training, and access to networks that will help Liberian businesses to grow sustainably.”
