Unity Party Distances Itself from ‘Unauthorized Planned Counter-Protest’…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Unity Party (UP) has distanced itself from what it calls ’unauthorized planned counter-protest’ by a group calling itself ‘Council of Patriots for JNB-JKK.’

It is being alleged that a group under the banner “Council of Patriots for JNB-JKK” reportedly vowed to counter-protest ‘Solidarity and Trust for a New Day’s planned protest in support of the UP.

But in a release issued on Monday, July 14, 2025, UP distanced itself from the group and its planned counter-protest, pledging to uphold the constitutional rights of every Liberian, including peaceful assembly and free speech.

The party also wants those planning to protest to prioritize peace, order, and stability over personal egos, while urging Liberians to rise above provocation and avoid actions that may lead to violence, and contribute to the stability and development of the country.

Meanwhile, authorities of the Unity Party say the government of Liberia has, over two years, made significant progress in Liberia, including improvement in the security sector, stabilizing the prices of basic commodities, and road connectivity, among others.
