Sen. Cyrus Frowns on Outsourcing Licensing Contracts to Foreign-Owned Companies…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Chair of the Liberian Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veteran Affairs is calling for a halt to the outsourcing of license contracts to a foreign-owned company-Liberia Traffic Management.

Senator Momo Cyrus said, “Vehicle registration and licensing are key security components, and as such, entrusting it to foreign companies puts the government’s operations at risk.”

Speaking on ELBC “Super Morning Show” on Monday, July 14, 2025, Senator Cyrus said data in the hands of foreign actors can be sold, compromised, and used to sabotage the government’s operations.”

Meanwhile, the Lofa County Senator has also called on stakeholders to entrust Liberian-owned companies with contracts bordering on national security.

He said,” The Liberian Government is losing millions of dollars in outsourcing identification contracts to foreign-owned companies.”

At the same time, Senator Cyrus has also called for a review of the provision of resident permits.

The Lofa County Lawmaker said, “The outsourcing of the contract to Context Global, the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) contributed over five million US Dollars to the national budget. With the outsourcing of the contract, the government receives less than three million dollars annually.”

Senator Momo Cyrus said outsourcing contracts that can be done by Liberians will not only cause financial loss and security concerns, but also cause loss of jobs for Liberians.
