MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The House of Representatives has ratified an ECOWAS treaty for the establishment of the Dakar-Abidjan Corridor.
The move is geared towards enhancing regional integration, infrastructure development, and trade facilitation within West Africa.
The ratification followed a presentation of a report by the Joint Committee on Transport, Public Works, Rural Development, and Judiciary.
According to the Committee’s report, the ratification will boost interconnectivity and ensure economic growth and cross-border cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
The instrument has been forwarded to the Liberian Senate for concurrence.
In another development, the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) issued a stern warning to the public to cease any attempt to illegally access restricted areas of the Roberts International Airport (RIA).
It followed the recent arrest of an individual attempting to unlawfully enter the airside of the RIA.
In a statement released by the LAA recently, it said Neakardo Daykar was seen trying to breach the airport’s perimeter fencing along the airside.
According to the LAA, the airport security patrol guards stationed at the facility noticed the individual’s suspicious activity and immediately intervened.
The LAA emphasized that unauthorized entry into restricted areas poses significant risks, including potential threats to aviation safety and security.
Meanwhile, the Liberia Airport Authority has termed such actions as criminal and the perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
