Monrovia, Saturday, June 14, 2025 – Empowerment is helping others help themselves. This was manifested on Thursday, June 12, when renowned Liberian Humanitarian, Dr. Thomas Nimene Tweh, Jr. gave a significant boost to several market women in his community.
The women of the God’s Grace Community in District 11, Montserrado County, were blessed with a loan package of LRD 500, 000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand) to support their business undertakings.
The loan scheme is intended to expand micro-enterprises in the community, increase household resilience, and reduce aid dependence, something Dr. Tweh, also known as the Original Country Man, holds to his heart so dearly.
Presenting the cash, the head of the Loan Team and Chief of Office Staff, Christopher Neymar Vonziah said the gesture was Dr. Tweh’s way of helping the women to become self-sufficient and independent.
Mr. Vonziah urged the women to utilize the money wisely, stating that such move will motivate the benefactor to do more for the women of the God’s Grace Community.
In response, the leader of the women thanked Dr. Thomas Nimene Tweh for his continuous support to the women of the community and for his commitment to humanitarian causes across Liberia.
She vowed that her group will invest the money wisely in a way that will make Dr. Tweh and his team proud.
During the day, Dr. Tweh posted on social media saying, “When we think of charity, we often imagine helping people in faraway places. While those efforts are important, we sometimes overlook the needs of the people living right next door. The truth is, charity should start from your own neighborhood”.
The Original Country Man added that the gesture was in fulfillment of a promise made to the women of God Grace Community, in District 11, Montserrado County.
