Liberia’s Nat’l Elections Commission Board Issues Election Writ…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission has issued an election writ to Magistrates of Nimba County for the conduct of a senatorial by-election.

 The writ was issued Monday to the Nimba County Upper and Lower NEC Magistrates by National Elections Commission Acting Chairperson, Teplah Reeves.

According to Cllr. Reeves, the issuance of the writ provides the mandate for the two Magistrates to conduct the Nimba County Senatorial By-Election in line with NEC’s guidelines.

The By-Election in Nimba County is to fill the vacancy created at the Liberian Senate following the death of Nimba County Senator, Prince Johnson.

In response, National Elections Commission Lower Magistrate, Asanto Lekpon, vowed to conduct a credible Senatorial By-Election by NEC regulations.
