Liberian Senate Passes Local Gov. Bill to Transition Internal Affairs Ministry to…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senate has passed the Local Government bill to transition the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Ministry of Local Government.

The Local Government bill was among several other bills presented to the Legislature by President Joseph Boakai in 2024

It will advance modalities to operationalize the Local Government Act passed into law in 2018.

The Ministry of Local Government will also be able to drive the government’s decentralization programs.

The bill has been forwarded to the House of Representatives for concurrence.
