Liberian Gov. Engages U.S. Embassy in Monrovia and U.S. State Department

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government says it is actively cooperating with the United States Embassy in Monrovia and the U.S. Department of State to address the planned deportation of about 1,500 Liberians by the Trump Administration.

According to a press release from the Liberian Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Government is committed to protecting the interest of its citizens abroad and is diligently seeking a solution to the deportation issue.

The release disclosed that Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow-Nyanti is discussing the matter with the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, and has requested to meet with the new U.S. Secretary of State to explore alternatives to the deportation.

The Liberian Embassy in Washington, D.C. says the Government values its partnership with the U.S. and is working closely to find a mutually beneficial solution.

It emphasized that the Administration of President Joseph Boakai is dedicated to ensuring the welfare and safety of all Liberian citizens abroad, and will continue to strive for a resolution that protects their interests.
