MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has requested a one-week extension for the Executive to present the Draft 2025 National Budget to the National Legislature.

President Boakai’s request was officially communicated in a letter written to the Legislature through House Speaker, Cllr. Fonati Koffa.

Presidential Press Secretary, Kula Fofana, disclosed to ELBC on Thursday that the decision to extend the submission of the budget was based on the advised of the Minister of Finance and Development Planning.

Madam Fofana clarified that the extension is not based solely on the ongoing rigmarole at the House of Representatives but to give the Finance Ministry more time to align the Country’s development priorities.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Press Secretary said though the President does not see it fit to intervene presidentially, he is however concerned about the ongoing impasse at the lower house.
