Public Works Ministry Releases 100-Day Performance Report

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Public Works has released its one hundred days performance on the rehabilitation and maintenance of roads across Liberia.

Public Works Minister Roland Giddings said:” The Ministry was able to achieve seventy-five percent road works across the country. The Ministry did a good job in rehabilitating and the maintenance of roads under the President’s one hundred days deliverable.”

Minister Giddings pledged the Public Works Ministry’s commitment to build on the one-hundred-day success to improve the road condition in the country.

Public Works Minister Roland Giddings, however, assured of upholding transparency and accountability as well as carrying on active road works during the Dry Season.

At the same time, the Deputy Public Works Minister for Rural Development and Community Services, Jocelia Taplah, said:” The Ministry has embarked on the clearing of drainages and allies across Monrovia. The exercise will be extended to other part of the county to mitigate flooding and other natural disasters.”

Deputy Minister Taplah said the Ministry will also invest in roadside brushing, hiring local community dwellers to economically empower them.

Deputy Minister Taplah to a press conference that the Ministry will do more community engagements to stop the dumping of waste in the streets and the drainage.

Deputy Minister Jocelia Taplah then disclosed that the Ministry will carry out active drainage clearing, media engagements and roadside brushing, among others.
