Gov. of Liberia, Partners to Break Grounds Today for Electricity Expansion…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia and partners, including the European Union (EU) are expected to break grounds today, Friday, May 3, 2024, for the expansion and distribution of electricity to Buchanan in Grand Bassa County.

The project, according to the Government, will see the construction of two separate 33KV electricity distribution networks in Buchanan and Greenville in Sinoe County.

It said the projects are funded by the EU under its Rural Electrification Program, which prioritizes Southeastern Liberia.

In Buchanan, the Government said about twelve thousand fifty-four residents are expected to be connected, with the installation of an estimated eight hundred twenty-five streetlights.

Meanwhile, in Greenville, four thousand three hundred forty-four households are expected to be connected as part of the project.

At the same time, a mini hydro power plant is expected to be constructed on the Sinoe River.
