Catholic Archdiocese of Monrovia Gets New Archbishop

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Catholic Archdiocese of Monrovia now has a new Archbishop-elect. He is Monsignor Dr. Gabriel Blamo Jubwe.

Monsignor Jubwe’s nomination by Pope Francis was announced on Monday, February 28, 2024, by the Apostolic Nuncio to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Gambia, the Reverend Monsignor Walter Erbi.

The Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops Conference, Rev. Fr. Dennis Nimene, told ELBC that Monsignor Jubwe will be ordained Archbishop within three months, consistent with the Code of Canon Law governing the Church.

Monsignor Jubwe has been the Archdiocesan Administrator of Monrovia since 2021.

He is now set to formally succeed Bishop Lewis Jerome Zeigler who died in August 2022.
