Rubber Sector Actors of Liberia to Hold Protest against Executive Order 124

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A Consortium of Rubber Sector Actors of Liberia has threatened to hold a peaceful protest against Executive Order 124.

The Consortium comprises rubber planters, brokers, and exporters.

According to Executive Order 124 issued by former President George Weah last year, the exportation of unprocessed rubber for sale on the international market is banned.

The Chairman of the Consortium of Rubber Sector Actors of Liberia, James Seyekia, told a news conference on Friday, February 23, 2024, that they are left with no option but to peacefully protest against the negative impact of the restriction.

Mr. Seyekia said:” As a result of the Order, over thirty-four containers of unprocessed rubber are stuck at the Freeport of Monrovia, thus depriving income for owners.”

According to him, the planned protest in the coming days will be staged at various points across Monrovia, to draw the attention of the National Government to the situation.
