Nat’l Elections Commission Releases Key Dates for Senatorial, Rep. By-Elections…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC) has released key dates for the conduct of Senatorial and Representative By-Elections in Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties.

According to the NEC, accreditations of party agents, media, and election observers will begin from February 26 to April 1, 2024, followed by the publication of regulations and guidelines on February 28.

Candidates’ nomination period will run from March 6 to 19, and the replacement of lost and damaged voter identification cards will begin on March 20 as well as the publication of provisional candidates list on March 21.

Key dates of the NEC also revealed that on March 22 the launch of civic and voter education and gender campaign for the By-Elections will take place, and the publication of voting precincts will be on April 2.

In a release issued recently, the NEC publication of candidates’ final listing will be on April 4, with the political campaign commencing from April 4 to 20, and voting will take place on April 23.

The By-Elections are to fill the Senatorial seat of Nimba County, following the election of Jeremiah Koung as Vice President and the death of Grand Gedeh County District One Representative, Madison Gwion.
