Unity Party Terms as False, Malicious FrontPage Africa’s Publication Implicating Party Nat’l Chairman…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The ruling Unity Party (UP) has termed as false and malicious a story published in the Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Edition of FrontPage Africa, alleging that its National Chairman deducted a portion of funds allocated for inaugural celebrations in all seventy-three districts.

According to FrontPage Africa, Chairman Luther Tarpeh of the UP directed the deduction of one thousand US Dollars from the five thousand allocated for each district for inauguration nationwide.

However, a release issued on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, by the UP clarified that before disbursement, a meeting was initiated by all fifteen County Chairs, at which time they proposed the deduction of one thousand USD per district.

The UP said:” The decision was to enable the county leadership, collaborating parties, and auxiliaries to conduct similar celebrations at their respective county headquarters. The collective agreement for the deduction was not an instruction from the National Chairman, contrary to media report.”
