USAID STAIP Project Ends in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-USAID-funded Strategic Technical Assistance for Improved Health System Performance outcomes (STAIP) project has finally come to an end in Liberia.

The four-year project worked closely with the Ministry of Health to strengthen Liberia’s health system at both national and community levels.

Implemented by Jhpiego, the STAIP Project provided technical and financial support to County Health Teams in maternal and newborn health.

STAIP Chief of Party, Dr. Birhanu Getahun said:” The project targeted twelve counties with the goals of reducing critical gaps in the Country’s health system.”

As part of the project draw-down activities, STAIP recently handed several lifesaving equipment to the health teams of Nimba, Bong, and Margibi Counties.

Meanwhile, USAID Acting Mission Director, Rory Donohoe, says the US Government is proud of its support to Liberia’s Health Sector.

Mr. Donohoe said:” The STAIP Project demonstrates the US’s critical support to improving health outcomes in the Country.”

The STAIP activity was designed with an overarching objective of supporting the Health Ministry to enhance the delivery of primary healthcare services.

Mr. Donohoe said:” The project intervention focused on sustainable capacity, improved financial management, and increased accountability.”

Mr. Rory Donohoe said these interventions have improved the delivery of maternal and child health, family planning, and malaria services in over three hundred public health facilities across twelve counties.
