AU Expresses Grave Concern over Security Situation in Sierra Leone

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The African Union (AU) has expressed grave concern about the security situation in Sierra Leone.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has strongly condemned the recent violence in Freetown.

Mr. Mahamat said:” The violence has the propensity to disrupt the peace, stability, and democratic dispensation of Sierra Leone.”

A release from the AU Commission Chairperson also commends the Government of Sierra Leone for promptly repelling the attacks.

Mr. Moussa Mahamat Faki then assured the Government and a person of Sierra Leone of the African Union’s continued commitment to support the strengthening of inclusive democracy, stability, and nation-building.
