MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA- Police in Maryland County have arrested and charged a 39-year-old man with manslaughter.

According to the police charge sheet, suspect Saydee Doe allegedly beat his wife, Esther Toe, resulting in her death.

Prior to her demise, an argument between the couple allegedly turned chaotic.

Eyewitnesses told police investigators that the victim, Esther Toe,  was rushed to the Pleebo Health Center by community members, due to injuries sustained but was later pronounced dead by medical practitioners.

The family of the victims, as well as civil society actors, is calling for a speedy investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, suspect Doe is being detained at the Harper Police Station awaiting court trial.
