United States Mission to UN Praises Liberians for Exercising Democratic Rights

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The US Mission to the United Nations has commended Liberians for exercising their democratic rights by voting peacefully in the just-ended Presidential Run-Off Election.

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said Tuesday’s election is a testament that Liberia is a beacon of democratic governance in the region.

Ambassador Greenfield noted that the United States remains committed to helping the country achieve this goal.

The US Envoy also assured of the US Government’s commitment to promoting accountability and warned against attempts by anyone or group to undermine the country’s democratic system through fraud, violence, or intimidation.

Ambassador Linda Greenfield’s message was contained in a statement released on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, on Liberia’s run-off election held Tuesday, November 14.
