MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has welcomed the latest governance scorecard of the US Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

The MCC Scorecards measure policy performance on the compact eligibility criteria established in MCC’s authorizing legislation.

To pass the scorecard, a country must be cleared in at least ten of the twenty indicators, and Liberia has surpassed the threshold after passing 14.

Reacting to the development on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie said the move has further solidified the Weah-led Administration’s international approval.

Minister Rennie said:” Participating in the MCC program has also demonstrated the President’s determination to put in place the right policy measures to better the lives of the Liberian people.”

Some of the fourteen indicators passed by the Liberian Government include control of corruption, freedom of information, trade policy, health expenditure, access to credit, and the rule of law.

At the same time, Finance Minister Samuel Tweah says the latest achievement from the MCC is a result of enormous work done by the Liberian Government over the last five years.

Minister Tweah said:” Passing fourteen of the MCC twenty performance indicators is owed to sustained commitment on the part of the President to get the right things done.”

The Finance Minister added that the move has now dismissed all negative propaganda about lack of performance thrown at the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)-led Government by the opposition.

He added that if anyone is looking for key information before casting their votes on Tuesday, November 14, the MCC scorecard has presented a crucial lead.
