Education Minister Sonii Calls on Parents…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Education Minister Ansu Sonii is calling on parents to allow their children to return to school, despite some concerns in the public about imminent violence amid the announcement of election results.

Minister Sonii said:” Allowing students to return to classes does not suggest in any way a downplay of their safety by the Education Ministry.”

He further said:” Liberia is a country of law and anyone attempting to bring chaos will face the consequences of their actions, according to law.”

Speaking in an ELBC interview on Monday, October 16, 2023, Minister Sonii called on citizens and political actors to wait on the National Elections Commission (NEC) for the official results and avoid unnecessary confrontations.

The Minister of Education was responding to concerns that schools are reopening at a time when the peace of the country looks fragile, owing to threats of war by some Liberian politicians.
