Seven Dead, Several Injured from Collapsed Upstairs Building in Maryland County

MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-At least seven persons have been pronounced dead in Pleebo, Maryland County, following the collapse of an upstairs building.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 1, 2023, when members of the Muslim Community were having their regular women’s meeting in Pleebo.

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has since rescued twenty-four other occupants, and are seeking medication at the Pleebo and J.J. Dossen Hospitals in Maryland County.

Health authorities say:” Those rescued from Sunday’s incident are rapidly responding to treatment.”

Meanwhile, citizens of Maryland County have expressed sadness over the incident.
