MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has reassured the world of his Government’s strong commitment and determination to conduct peaceful, credible, and inclusive elections come October 10, this year.

President Weah said:” The Liberian Government has since taken necessary measures to ensure peaceful conduct of the process.”

He said the October 10 Elections would further sustain the gains made in the reconstruction and development of the country.

The Liberian Leader said:” As a strong believer in democracy, I respect the constitutional governance and the free political will of the people.”

The Liberian Chief Executive was speaking on Wednesday, September 22, 2023, when he delivered the Sixth address at the United Nations General Assembly taking place in New York, the United States of America.

Meanwhile, President Weah has urged world leaders to take practical steps to mitigate the effects of climate change.

He said such can be done by supporting developing countries, including Liberia, to build resilience against the effects of climate change.

The Liberian Leader called on powerful nations to support efforts in addressing crisis disruption, biodiversity loss, and pollution destruction of the planet.

President Weah also hailed the United Nations for strides made so far in the protection of the planet, amid crippling global challenges.

The Liberian Chief Executive also pledged his Government’s commitment to working along with the UN System to mitigate the devastating impacts of climate change.
