“Desist from Misinformation and Hate Speech…”-Madam Mwendwa

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Director of Strategic Initiative and Feminist Movement Building Program wants politicians and media practitioners to desist from misinformation and hate speech during elections.

Madam Irene Mwendwa said:” These vices have the propensity to ruin the country’s peace and stability.”

Madam Mwendwa noted that politicians can effectively proffer their anticipated agendas to voters and do away with tarnishing the reputation of their opponents in the name of the campaign.

She emphasized the need for journalists and online influencers to be truthful in their reportage aimed at maintaining the country’s peace.

She spoke on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at a conference organized by the National Democratic Institute, in partnership with Ilab-Liberia and with support from the Government of Canada,  on countering misinformation and Hate Speech, in Sinkor, Monrovia.
