MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Agriculture, Jeanine Cooper, says the Ministry is shifting its focus from research approaches to the implementation process of the research being conducted.
Minister Cooper said:” Research is one of the surest ways for self-sufficiency in food production, mainly in rice on the local market”.
She disclosed that the Ministry is proposing to Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) to begin applying their trial research in the Agriculture Sector of the country.
Speaking at the 2nd Joint Coordinating Committee Gathering on Improving Rice Production for Smallholders Project on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in Congo Town, Minister Cooper said the application of the research will have a greater impact on local farmers.
Also in remarks, JICA Deputy Chief Advisory-Lib-Rice Expert, Mitsuharu Takemura, said:” The project in Bong County is to ensure a high yield of rice is produced by local farmers”.
