COVID-19 No Longer Public Health Emergency-WHO

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared COVID-19 no longer a public health emergency of international concern.

The declaration was made by International Health Organization Emergency Committee on COVID-19 held on May 4, this year.

The WHO, however, said it has developed a transitional plan for countries around the world to implement since the pandemic has been declared as no health threat worldwide.

The disclosure was made on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in Monrovia, at a one-day media engagement by the Country Representative of the WHO, Dr. Peter Clement.

Dr. Clement said:” 2023-2025 WHO COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Responsive Plan focuses on sustaining the national capacity gains”.
