MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Koijee, has refuted claims of procuring and importing a huge consignment of weapons to Liberia.

Recently, the Chief Executive Officer of Spoon Communication Network, Stanton Witherspoon, accused Mayor Koijee of procuring a huge consignment of weapons from Israel.

But addressing a news conference in Monrovia on Monday, May 8, 2023, Mayor Koijee clarified that at no time did he order arms and ammunition from Israel, as claimed by Spoon CEO.

Lord Mayor Koijee also described Mr. Witherspoon’s claim against him as baseless and misleading and only intended to besmear his highly earned reputation built over the years.

He, however, called on the United States Embassy and other international partners to thoroughly investigate allegations levied against him.
