“Collaborating Political Parties’ Lawsuit against Nat’l Elections Commission is Self-defeating”-Mr. Jackson

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A Liberian politician has criticized the Main Opposition Bloc, the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) for lawsuit against the National Elections Commission (NEC).

Recently, the CPP filed in a petition to the Supreme Court of Liberia, requesting the Commission to halt the Biometric Voter Registration exercise.

But Mr. Samuel Jackson described the CPP’s legal redress as self-defeating.

According to him, there is no clear line in the 1986 Constitution which prohibits the conduct of voter registration exercise before the creation of a new threshold.

Mr. Jackson said:” In the absence of the new threshold, a resolution can be passed and voters in current electoral districts can vote as was done in 2025 and 2011”.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jackson has hailed the CDC-led Government for undertaking meaningful development programs aimed at improving the wellbeing of the nation and its people, amid limited donor funding.

Mr. Jackson made the assertions when he appeared on the ELBC Super Morning Show on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
