Internal Affairs Minister Sirleaf Seeks Cote d’Ivoire’s Intervention…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Internal Affairs Minister, Varney Sirleaf, says neighboring Cote d’Ivoire can play an essential role in addressing the issue of illegal entry of foreign nationals in Liberia.

Minister Sirleaf pointed to the illegal entry of hundreds of Burkinabes in Liberia, mainly from the Ivory Coast, carrying on farming activities in Liberia.

He called on his Ivoirian counterparts to put in measures to address the illegal influx of Burkinabes in Liberia, since that Country is a major transit point.

Minister Sirleaf spoke on Monday, February 6, 2023, at the opening of a two-day gathering on the structure of border management between Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the National Border Commission of Cote d’Ivoire, Konate Diaka-Lidia, disclosed that cooperation is vital in addressing border security issues between the two countries.
