Pres. Weah declares Tuesday, November 29 Nat’l Holiday

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has by proclamation declared Tuesday, November 29, a National Holiday and is to be observed throughout Liberia.

The day marks the 127th Birth Anniversary of Liberia’s 18th President, William V.S.Tubman.

In observance of the day, President Weah has ordered all Government ministries, agencies, business houses, and market places to be closed on the day from six in the morning to six in the evening.

In his proclamation, President Weah noted that the observance is in recognition of the numerous contributions, profound changes, and lasting accomplishments made by the former President during his administration, for which the citizens of the Country expressed their deep appreciation for his noble and remarkable leadership role.

The Liberian Leader said:” The former President is also being remembered for his contributions to the emancipation of African Colonial Territories into statehood.”

The proclamation is in consonance with an act of the National Legislature at its 3rd Session of the 42nd Legislature of the Republic, declaring November 29 of each year as a national holiday.
