MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senate Committee on Investment and Concessions has announced a nationwide inspection of concession companies across the Liberia.

Speaking to reporters Thursday, October 20, 2022, the Chair of the Committee Senator Numene Bartekwa said the move is aimed at monitoring the operations of the companies.

The Grand Kru County Senator noted that the assessment will establish whether the companies are living up to the agreement signed with the Liberian Government.

He further explained that the tour will also ascertain the employment benefits and revenue being generated from the companies’ operations.

Senator Bartekwa maintained that the assessment will evaluate corporate social impact of concession companies within their operation areas.

The tour is expected to begin this week with concession companies operating in Montserrado County.

At the same time, the Senate has cited the Secretariat of the Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI) to give their perspective on the operations of actors within the extractive industries.
