Traditional activities hampering schools operations in Todee District

TODEE DISTRICT, MONTSERRADO COUNTY, LIBERIA-The principal of the Dekagai Public School in Todee District, Montserrado County, says the constant practice of traditional activities is impeding the smooth operation of schools in the area.

Mr. Ezekiel Harris on Wednesday, September 21,2022, told ELBC Correspondent in the area that such practice is causing low enrolment, especially for female students this academic calendar.

He noted that majority of the female students in the District are now taking advantage of traditional bush schools, rather than the formal schools.

Mr. Harris further stressed that other parents have begun enrolling their kids at different institutions outside of the District.

Meanwhile, Mr. Harris is appealing to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to speedily intervene into the matter.

In a related development, Dekagai Public School Principal, Ezekiel Harris says the increase of criminal activities in Todee District, is causing serious setback for learners.

According to Mr. Harris, criminals are constantly burglarizing learning facilities in that part of the County.

He noted that the latest is the Dekagai Public School, where thieves got away with over fifty armchairs and thirty desks.

He emphasized that the situation is impeding the learning process of the institution.

Mr. Harris noted that parents are now holding their children back from attending the Dekagai Public School, because of the lack of sitting capacity.
