Pres. Weah’s address on July 26 incident was not belated-Info Minister Rennie

MONRONIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie says President George Weah’s address on the July 26 incident was not belated.

Minister Rennie said:” The President could not have spoken on the issue, without having detail information of the matter. He spoke after receiving detail information from the relevant security apparatus regarding the situation.”

He told ELBC Bumper Show on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, that President Weah’s stance against the July 26 violence clearly demonstrates that he does not tolerate any form of violence.

Minister Rennie, however, described as appalling and a shame the situation that erupted on July 26, involving the Militants of the University of Liberia (UL) based Student Unification Party (SUP) and the so-called Congress for Democratic Change (CDC)-Council of Patriot.

Minister Rennie said as a man of peace, the President’s statement was a marching order to the National Security Apparatus, to fast-track the arrest and investigation of those linked to the protest.

Meanwhile, Minister Rennie has called for a change in the culture of dialogue in Liberia.

He said Liberia’s youthful generation is by the day gravitating to a negative form of dialogue.

According to him, some of those who mastermind division among the young people are friends of public servants who are often criticized.

Minister Rennie urged Liberian youth not to serve as conduit to instigate violence in the country.

Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie added that in the midst of political differences, a new tune of politics that promote a better image of the country must be the order of the day.
