Nine Liberians rescued from human trafficking ring in Nigeria

KANO STATE, NIGERIA-Nine Liberians have been rescued from a human trafficking ring in Kano State, Nigeria.

They were rescued by the National Agency for the Prohibition of trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and in collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

NAPTIP’s Commander in charge of Kano Zone, Abudllahi Babale, said the victims were rescued by agents of NIS in Kano State.

Mr. Babale said after their rescue, the victims were handed over to NAPTIP for further inquiry.

He added that the victims who were influenced by an unknown person received empowerment package from the IOM.

Mr. Babale disclosed that the agency had embarked on an in-depth investigation into the case.
