Environmental Protection Agency acts to protect wetland in Jacob Town

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a halt order on ongoing construction works on wetlands, in the Jacob Town area in Paynesville,

It followed a conference relative to a complaint filed at the EPA, highlighting issues of grave environmental concerns due to the wanton abuse of wetlands and waterways in the Saint Francis Community and its environs.

In a statement, the EPA warned those involved in the purchasing of wetlands and mangrove swamps, including a wetland purchaser, Asumana Kanneh, terming it as a total violation and abuse of wetlands.

The EPA maintained that its responsibility is to initiate and coordinate actions required in a state of environmental emergency, or any other situation which may pose serious threat to the environment and public health.
