MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Political Leader of the Unity Party (UP), Joseph Boakai, has reassured his supporters that he will be a Presidential Candidate in the 2023 Elections, despite what he calls ‘looming scheming’ to bar the UP.

Ambassador Boakai claimed that there is a political ploy orchestrated by some members of the opposition to block his presidential bid.

He said:” There is currently a communication before the National Elections Commission (NEC), questioning the legality of the UP to field a candidate in the Lofa County Senatorial By-Election.”

He told he supporters that the move is also intended to prevent the UP from contesting the much anticipated 2023 Presidential and General Elections.

Ambassador Joseph Boakai, however, added that nothing will deter the UP from participating in the ensuing elections, disclosing that he  has instructed the Party Leadership to field a candidate in Lofa County.
