West African College of Surgeons embarks on free surgical outreach in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The West African College of Surgeons, in partnership with its local Liberian Chapter, has embarked on a free surgical outreach in the Country.

The surgical outreach is being carried out at health centers and hospitals in Montserrado, Margibi and Bomi Counties.

The outreach is part of the 62nd Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the West African College of Surgeons.

About two-hundred patients are expected to benefit from the exercise across the Country.

According to the Chief Medical Officer of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Dr. Jerry Browne, they are targeting conditions such as obstetric fistula, Clift lip, spinal injuries and hernia.

The outreach, according to Dr. Browne, is being conducted by both local and international surgeons, with support from the West Africa College of Surgeons and partners.

The medical and surgical exercise is expected to climax on Friday, March 18, 2022.
