Gov’t warns against hoarding of petroleum products

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia is warning against hoarding of petroleum products, and vows it will not tolerate such illegal acts.

Government is at the same time assuring the public that there is adequate supply of the products in the Country to serve the local market for months to come, adding that there is no reason for panic buying of gasoline or diesel.

The prices of gasoline and fuel have increased globally, as a result of ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which h has affected supply chain.

According to a recent MICAT release issued, the Liberian Government, through other relevant agencies, has been engaged with importers for adjustment in the pump price of diesel fuel and gasoline to account for the current increase on the international market in order to avoid loss to them.

The statement assured the public that gasoline and fuel will be available at major filling stations in all parts of the Country, as importers lift their products throughout the weekend.

It says the Commerce Ministry and the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC) remain engaged with importers to derive a mutually acceptable price structure for petroleum products in light of the global increase in the price of the commodities.
