Environmental Protection Agency clarifies Bea Mountain’s chemical transportation

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has clarified that recent transport of chemicals by Bea Mountain Company in Grand Cape County was fully   legitimate.

Recently a vehicle carrying huge consignment of Sodium Nitrate was detained by police following an accident near the town of Small Bomi, in Garwula District, Grand Cape Mount County.

A local daily had reported that the truck was detained for environmental laws governing mining companies in Liberia.

But EPA Executive Director Wilson Tarpeh said:” The truck involved in the incident is a registered transporter or chemicals.”

Also speaking at the press conference, EPA Lead Scientist Rafael Ngumbu said:” Findings from its investigation have shown that the company has fully met the legal framework, and is also adhering to environmental standards set by the EPA.”
