Senate supports Draft Nat’l Budget Liberian

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget says the 2022 National Budget is achievable and realistic.

The Committee said it has confidence in the ability of the Executive to raise revenue projected in the Draft National Budget.

It followed the appearance and explanations from revenue generating entities of government, during the budget hearings.

Updating Plenary on Thursday, January 27, 2022, the Co-Chairman of the Committee, Senator Prince Moye, said:” The Ministry of Finance and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) have convinced the body about revenue sources to back the budget.”

However, Senator Moye maintained that the budget is still before the Committee, due to further scrutiny of the Ministry of Public Works and the National Road Fund budgets.

He added that following the reconciliation of both entities’ budgets, the Committee will submit its final report to Plenary for action.
