Liberia’s First Lady wins Merck Foundation ‘More Than a Mother Award’

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s First Lady, Clar Weah, has won the 2021 Merck Foundation ‘More Than a Mother Award’.

Madam Weah was amongst other winners including, Gambia’s First lady, Fatoumatta Barrow, Ghana and Nigeria First Ladies, Rebecca Akufa-Addo and Aisha Buhari , respectively.

According to a release, the African First Ladies were recognized for their consistent support as Ambassadors of Merck Foundation’s More Than a Mother program.

They have led several campaigns in raising awareness about Infertility Prevention, Breaking Infertility Stigma, and Empowering Girls and Women through Education

 Announcing the Awards, the CEO of Merck Foundation, and Senator Rasha Kelej, thanked the winners for being an inspiration to others on the continent.
