Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency dismisses five officers…….

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has dismissed five of its officers for what it described as gross ethical conduct.

The five officers were dismissed on multiple offences committed in Brewerville and Shefflin, Margibi County.

At a press conference on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, LDEA Director of Communication Michael Jipplay said:” Four of the officers were dismissed for allegedly stealing a bag containing huge amount of cash and other valuables, belonging to a local business woman.”

The incident happened when the officers were affectting an arrest, during an attempted robbery in Brewerville, outside Monrovia.

Mr. Jipplay added that the officers’ action violates the ethics of the LDEA.

Meanwhile, the LDEA has strongly condemned the disgraceful action of one of its officers, Jimmy Gayeyou.

Recently, videos making rounds on social media showed officer Gayeyou torturing a suspected criminal at his Shefflin residence.

He stripped his victim naked, tortured and beat him mercilessly in a Facebook live video, accusing the alleged thief of stealing his mobile phone.

The LDEA has since dismissed officer Gayeyou, describing his action as purely unprofessional and demeaning to the Agency, and assured of a timely prosecution of others in connection with the incident.
