LFA Appeals Committee upholds stages FC relegation

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The LFA Appeals Committee has upheld the decision by the Grievance committee to relegate Stages FC to the 3rd Division.

Stages FC ended the league season 2nd from bottom on the 2nd Division log with 19 points, with negative 18 goals.

The Club accused the LFA of unjustifiably relegating them to the 3rd Division.

Stages FC in their complaint said the LFA unlawfully deducted seven points from the club, which was a contributing factor to their relegation.

The LFA said:” Seven points were deducted from the club for fielding players who were on yellow cards in three league matches.”

Stages FC have since refuted this and had threatened to go to the Court of Arbitration for sports (Cas) as well, as stage serious of protests at the LFA and Orange GSM Company Headquarters had the appeal gone against them.

On his social media page, Stages FC President, Chris Weah, said:” The protest would have begun on Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS), the Headquarters of the LFA.

But up to press time, there was no report of protest taking place at the ATS.
