NEC Launches Feasibility Study on Biometric Voter Registration in Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia – A comprehensive feasibility study on the introduction of biometric voter registration (BVR) has begun in Liberia.

The study was launched by the National Elections Commission, with technical support from the United Nations Development Program and ECOWAS.

Speaking Monday at the launch, NEC Chairperson Davidetta Browne Lansanah said the study will pave the way for a biometric voter roll to be used in 2023 Presidential and General Elections.

Madam Browne – Lansanah said the use of the BVR will also enhance the confidence of voters and increase the integrity, accuracy, and transparency in the Country’s electoral processes.

Also speaking, UNDP Chief Technical Elections Advisor, Lenka Homolkova, assured UNDP’s continuous support to the National Elections Commission in the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections in Liberia.
