Address Sexual Reproductive Health issues-Charles Coffey

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Charles Coffey, is calling on the Liberian Government and international partners to address Sexual Reproductive Health issues with high priority.

Mr. Coffey wants budgetary allocation for family planning, noting that the entity is important in preventing unintended pregnancy and reducing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Speaking during the launch of the Sexual Reproductive Health and Sexual Gender Based Violence (SRH/SGBV) Media Network, Mr. Coffey challenged the new media group to sustain their advocacy for the Sexual Reproductive Health rights in Liberia.

He urged them to take full responsibility in enlightening the Government for adequate support to Reproductive Health Rights.

Meanwhile, the Sexual Reproductive Health, SRH and SGBV Media Network National Coordinator, Edward Tamba, rallied with national leaders to ensure adequate budgetary allocation for family planning and Sexual Reproductive Health.

Mr. Tamba said:” The SRH/SGBV Media Network is established to advocate for the dignity of women and girls, especially Sexual Reproductive Health in the Country.”

According to Mr. Tamba, there is an urgent collective need for other media practitioners to join the advocacy in Liberia.

Mr. Tamba made the call when his network was officially launched on Friday, May 28, 2021, as part of World Menstrual Day observance at the Planned Parenthood Association of Liberia, in Sinkor.
